Storage One
About
Storage One is a Self Storage company that has successfully operated in the Storage marketplace since 1989. Self Storage first evolved in the USA, before spreading throughout the world. Australia was an early adopter of this outsourcing of the storage requirements of business and residential property owners.
Storage One is a 100% owned subsidiary of PIA Group and it prides itself on providing professional self storage services throughout Australia. Whilst originally operating in capital city markets such as Melbourne, Storage One changed its strategic focus around in 2003 to operate in larger regional locations where it is able to achieve market leadership and economies of scale in its advertising, merchandise and transport services.
Storage One focuses on a higher proportion of business customers than most of its storage competitors and it does much more than simply provide space for rent, it provides a complete storage solution tailored for its customer’s specific needs. Services offered include: Commercial Self Storage, Residential Self Storage, Records Management, Courier Drop Off and Pick up services, Caravan/Car/Boat Storage, Wine Storage and Media Storage.
Storage One built up several successful Victorian stores including acquiring the equity of its fellow shareholders in The Space Place. Storage One aggregated its properties together with five other large Melbourne based storage sites to coordinate the sale of 13% of total Melbourne storage capacity to the National Storage REIT (ASX:NSR) in 2004.
Storage One commenced operations in the Queensland market in 2003 when it built a greenfields site located in Hervey Bay, which over 5 years expanded to be the largest storage property in the Fraser Coast/Wide Bay region. Storage One sold the Hervey Bay property to the Storage King Group prior to the GFC in 2008 at a yield that at that time was the highest recorded sales price for a regional storage location in Australia.
Storage One re-entered the Self Storage market in 2014. It is currently searching for additional storage sites.
